Does anyone expect to profit from their artworks? I'm guessing that Les
Levine and Iain Baxter in the 70s didn't; painters like Clemente and Salle
in the 90s do. But probably its arguable about what profit means to a
conceptualist artist who doesn't make objects. (Many conceptualist artists
I know center their careers around teaching and lecturing.) Re
"neo-conceptualist generation 4" you *have* missed my irony completely.
There is no such term, but its meaning is obvious: That this is a way of
working with a history that's 20 years old and that many artists are simply
repeating--or elaborating--on past artistic strategies and M.O.s.
